Waverley Park- Waverley Oval, No. 2 & 3
Waverley Park is a major sport and recreation park in Waverley and provides a commuter route for cyclists and pedestrians.
The Park holds a special place in our local cultural heritage as Waverley’s first park, being allocated in 1880 for public recreation. Waverley Park is valued for the many stories and significant items that celebrate the rich and diverse heritage of the site and broader community.
The Park consists of several facilities including’ Waverley Oval with turf cricket pitch and grandstand, a synthetic field, training fields, netball courts, multi-purpose courts, bocce court, synthetic cricket nets, fitness station and the Memorial Gardens and the Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre.
Waverley Park consists of several areas: Waverley Oval with its grandstand and turf cricket pitch, Waverley #2 synthetic field and Waverley # 3 is a smaller sized field suitable for training or small sided games. Other areas include 3 netball courts, 3 Multi-purpose courts, a Bocce court, 2 public synthetic cricket nets, a fitness station, and the Memorial Gardens.
Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre
The Margaret Whitlam Recreation Centre, also known as Waverley Park Pavilion is set in the historic Waverley Park. The recreation centre features a grandstand, an indoor sports court and changing rooms, club rooms, community room and kitchen, and a café overlooking Waverley Oval to the sea.
