Construction sites
There are regulations to ensure building works do not unduly impact the neighbourhood, particularly in terms of hours of work, noise, traffic, protection of public property, and erosion / sediment control.

Fire safety
All properties must have smoke alarms and many properties require additional certification.

Food safety
Most retail food businesses must register with Council and are subject to an inspection program.

Pollution
Air, noise, water and waste pollution issues can be reported to a range of government agencies including Council.

Public health
Hair, beauty & skin penetration businesses must register with Council. Any building with a water cooling system must also register it with Council.

Stormwater
Council maintains the public stormwater network and the requirements for when private properties wish to connect to the network.

Swimming pools
All pools and spas must be registered with the NSW Government and safety inspections may be conducted by Council at any time.
