Just a few kilometres from the centre of Sydney, Waverley has fabulous beaches, coastline and beach-side parks at Bondi, Tamarama and Bronte.

Our beaches
Waverley Council is close to Sydney CBD and boasts some of Australia's most beautiful beaches and coastline. Council's beaches include Bondi Beach, Tamarama Beach and Bronte Beach.

Beach safety
Beach safety is important when at the beach. Ensure you swim between the flags when swimming at the beach. Check the water for rips and only swim if you are capable. Don't swim if the waves are too big, as they may 'dump' you. Find out more on how to have a hassle free day at the beach.

Our lifeguards
Waverley Council employs professional lifeguards to protect visitors to Bondi Beach. These professional lifeguards wear blue uniforms and work 365 days a year.

Pool cleaning schedule

Beach volleyball
Due to the popularity of our beaches, most ball games are not permitted, to ensure safety and comfort for the large volume of people using the space. However, beach volleyball can be played within dedicated zones at both Tamarama and Bondi Beaches.
