Local Creative Collaborations Yalagang Room, Bondi Pavilion
Local creative collaborations
A program for our local creative community to connect and create at Bondi Pavilion
Waverley Council’s Local Creative Collaborations program supports local artists to create and develop work, making a positive contribution to the development of a vibrant artistic life at Bondi Pavilion.
Opportunities are available to artists at all stages of their practice, from emerging to established, that are Waverley Council residents or can show a connection to the Waverley community,
Priority will be given to local creatives and/or projects with a strong resonance to the local community and local audiences.
Bondi Pavilion is an inclusive cultural space, welcoming applications from individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds including First Nations, culturally and linguistically diverse, all sexualities, genders, neurodiversities and access artists.
Current project – get involved
Local artist Enzo Amato, is inviting the local community to be part of his new immersive art project, ArcheoTypes.
The artist is aiming to celebrate the rich cultural diversity in our neighbourhood by capturing a glimpse into the lives of our locals; their connection to their heritage, traditions and memories. Participants will be photographed/videoed with their most cherished object and invited to share the stories behind it.
Each session runs for approximately 20 minutes and is open to persons 18 years and over and to those who are willing to have their objects and stories shared for this unique art project. This is a non-commercial project and part of an art collective experience. Participants will be photographed/videoed with their chosen object and these images may be published online, in print and other media including social networks.
The project runs 10am- 5pm, 13-25 May with an artist talk, free and open to everyone, on Saturday 25 May at 2pm in the Yalagang Room.
So, drop into the Yalagang Room, support the artist and be a part of this great art project!
Expressions of Interest
Expressions of Interest are run at various times throughout the year, providing opportunities for creative development in Bondi Pavilion's Yalagang Room. Located on the Ground Floor, the Yalagang Room is a multi-purpose, multi-artform community and creative space, and will drive the artistic life of the Bondi Pavilion building.
Watch this space for updates on dates for the next EOI round, or join our Local Creatives Register to be kept informed.
Timeframes
We expect most proposals for use of this space will be for either 1 or 2 weeks maximum. However, if your project doesn’t fit into this model, feel free to talk with us about your idea.
Assessment
All EOIs are reviewed by an internal programming and curatorial panel, and applicants are advised of the results of their submission within 6 weeks of the closing date of the relevant round.
Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer and then an agreement outlining the details of their program and agreed public outcomes.
Specific criteria for each program will be outlined in the each EOI application form, however projects across all program strands will be assessed against the following core project aims:
- Inspire vibrant and connected communities.
- Showcase great art and great artists.
- Advance smart sector partnerships.
- Foster engaged audiences.
Other Waverley Opportunities
Waverley Council also accept submissions year-round for a Venue Hire Grant Program which offers venue hire subsidies for eligible not-for-profit groups, with more information here.
Waverley Council also run a Small Grants program, including for Community and Cultural Grants, with more information here.
Successful applicants to the ‘Local Creative Collaborations’ program cannot apply to other funding opportunities within Waverley Council for the same project in the same financial year.
