Lucas Davidson

Lucas Davidson is a Sydney based artist working with photography, video and installation. Davidson’s current practice combines the photographic image with the moving image to create works that examine the body as a site of transformation. Working from a perspective where temporality and impermanence are an intrinsic part of the everyday Davidson’s work addresses the transitory nature of self and identity, highlighting change and flux as inherent part of the human condition.

Davidson holds a Master of Fine Art (2012) and a Master of Studio Art (2010) from Sydney College of the Arts. He is the recipient of the Dominik Mersch Gallery Award (2011) and has been selected for the Josephine Ulrick & Win Schubert Photography Award (2012) as well as the Royal Bank of Scotland Emerging Artist Award (2011).

Davidson curated the Bondi Illumination Screening ‘Reflections’ at Bondi Pavilion (2011). His work has been exhibited at Melbourne Art Fair (2012), La Trobe Visual Arts Centre (2012), Perth Centre for Photography (2011), Dominik Mersch Gallery (2011), as well as numerous Regional Galleries and Artist Run Initiatives.

Lucas Davidson wishes to curate Bondi's very own Video Art Festival during his residency.
