Dominic Kirkwood

Dominic Kirkwood is a Sydney based artist who works across video, sound and sculpture. His most recent work references and parodies economic theories and systems as part of a wider body of research into the irreducible relationship between art and finance. This line of inquiry was preceded by a long-term investigation into sound and image relations within large-scale cinematic video installations.

Dominic is currently completing a Master of Fine Arts by research at UNSW Art and Design. He completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts with Honours at COFA, UNSW in 2007. Dominic’s most recent group exhibitions include ‘A New Feminine,’ (2015) at Airspace Projects, Marrickville, and ‘Unbound’ (2012), Kings ARI, Melbourne. Recent solo shows include ‘Golden Ciphers’ (2012) , Firstdraft, Woolloomooloo and ‘Golden Ciphers/Three Red Herrings’ (2014), Kudos Gallery, Paddington. Dominic won the prestigious Kudos Award in 2013 and was the recipient of a NSW Artists Grant as well as the Kings Exchange and Residency in 2012.
