Volunteer works - Bushcare Groups & National Tree Day

Volunteer Bushcare Groups are a valuable component of the restoration of the Gully, particularly around community engagement and understanding of ecological restoration processes.

Bronte Gully Bushcare Group have been continuously active in a small section of the Gully (Zones 9a & 10) since 1999, and successfully obtained an Envirofund Grant to restore the western end of Zone 10 in the 2000s. Bronte Gully Bushcare Group meets fortnightly to do weeding and planting.

In 2015 a second Bushcare commenced working in the gully – the Bronte Waterfall Bushcare Group – working in the western end of Zone 13a and in Zone 13b. This very small group meets monthly.

Two National Tree Day sites were planted by volunteers – one just below Zone 10 in 2018 and one near former tennis court in Zone 13a in 2019.
