Summerama
Get ready for a Summerama like no other! From photography competitions and creative workshops through to treasure hunts, nature walks and beach clean ups, there’s something for everyone to enjoy! These community led and Council events will help you get out and about, take action and appreciate our gorgeous local environment.
Join artist and scientist, Laura Jade, to learn about biomimicry inventions. What's that exactly? Creations inspired by mimicking nature! Take part and choose a natural phenomenon to inspire your own inventions and artworks.
When: Wednesday 19 January (10am - 11am for people aged 6 - 8) and (1pm - 2pm for people aged 9 -12)

Biomimicry Inventions is a Waverley Council-run event.
Join artist Lisa Patroni to transform household waste into artworks worthy of the Archibald! Learn how to combine colour, texture and tone with found materials to make incredible abstract artworks. You'll never guess these materials were destined for landfill once you see what Lisa does with them.
When: Thursday 20 January (10am - 11am for people aged 6 - 8) and (1pm - 2pm for people aged 9 - 12)

Upcycled Masterpieces is a Waverley Council-run event.
Please note due to Covid-19, the beach clean-ups have been postponed. The Bondi beach clean-up has been rescheduled to Saturday 26 March. Book your spot for the Bondi clean-up here. The Bronte beach clean-up is yet to be rescheduled.
Join us for a beach clean-up in Bondi or Bronte. Bring your friends or family and roll up your sleeves to help keep our amazing beaches beautiful!
Into running or exercising? The clean-up at Bondi will include a 4km run with three bootcamp stops. If you don't like running, come for the clean-up part of it!
When: Sunday 16 January, starting at 9am and you can come for as long or as little as you like

The beach clean-up events are run by Plastic Free Bronte, Responsible Runners and SeaBees.

Love the Coast is a Waverley Council run event
Are you ready for a treasure hunt like no other? Team up with friends, friends or other locals and seek out nature’s local hidden treasures around the eastern suburbs. Claim the podium and win great prizes!

Please note due to Covid-19, the nature walks have been postponed. The nature walks are yet to be rescheduled.
Explore magical Bronte Gully on a Guided Walk and connect with a little wilderness in our local 'hood!
Eastside Community Group (ECG) will take you on an informative and entertaining stroll from Bronte Park up to the waterfall, discovering plants, birds and other creatures along the way. The Gully will never look the same to you again.
When: Sunday 30 January, 2 to 4pm (last walk to depart at 3.15pm)

- We encourage you to wear a mask
- Face to face activities such as the nature walks and beach clean-ups are covid safe events. All participating adults must be double vaccinated.
- Always stay on the path, be mindful of your steps particularly around stairs, trees and rocks.
