Walking
Walking is a great way to get around Waverley. It’s well documented that an increase in walking helps create better communities, healthier residents and an environment with less noise and pollution.
Green Links
Waverley Council’s Green Links Pedestrian Network has established an integrated network of recreation pedestrian links throughout the community, providing recreational opportunities for all local residents and visitors, as well as providing links to schools, shops, beaches and transport.
Walking Maps
Heritage Walks
Scenic Coastal Walks
Walking Coastal Sydney
The Walking Coastal Sydney project provides a series of brochures and integrated small phone applications to map coastal walks from Pittwater to Sutherland. This network integrates with other coastal walks such as the Great North Walk and the Royal National Park.
Walking to School
In an effort to reduce congestion in peak times and improve safety around schools Waverley Council is encouraging a return to walking to school. Visit our School travel page for more info.
Walk to Work Day
Walk to Work Day is an initiative of the Pedestrian Council of Australia. The annual national event aims to promote walking and regular physical activity, reduce car dependency and improve air quality. Waverley Council supports this event.
