Building Futures: Pubs & Clubs Pilot Program

Waverley Council has launched a pilot program to help local pubs and clubs access easy energy cost savings with expert advice and support. A total of three local Pubs & Clubs have been selected for the pilot, with the aim to roll out the program more widely in the future.

We recognise that COVID-19 restrictions have been extremely challenging for all businesses. We hope that learnings from this pilot can be used to support a broad range of businesses over time.

Why Pubs & Clubs?

Energy is a major cost for Pubs and Clubs, with most spending upwards of $30,000 per year on electricity and gas. In light of economic downturn caused by COVID-19, Councils wants to help the hospitality sector save money through simple cost-effective upgrades and tune-ups on fridges, HVAC and lighting and by making sure Pubs & Clubs are on the best available tariffs. This will help prolong the life of their equipment, reduce maintenance costs and save operational costs for our local businesses.

Our goal

We are aiming to work with three Pubs & Clubs across the Eastern Suburbs over the next year with the goal of helping them save 15% on the energy bills. In doing so, this will reduce their carbon emissions.
