Community groups & networks
Waverley is a vibrant and active community with many local networks and groups working towards making our community more sustainable.
We aim to support these groups through partnerships, training, funding and facilitation, wherever possible. If your group or network needs help with a great idea or project, ask us how we might be able to assist.
Local community groups
- Second Nature
Join the growing number of local residents making sustainability second nature in their everyday life. Join a program, write a blog, or get involved in upcoming events and workshops. - Bushcare
Bushcare groups meet regularly at several beautiful spots along the coast to restore, protect and enhance our native bushland. - Compost Revolution
Join 7000 other eastern suburb households in the fast-growing movement to compost at home. Get an 80% subsidy from Council on compost bins & worm farms with free delivery to your door. - Take 3
Take 3 asks everyone to simply take 3 pieces of rubbish with them when they leave the beach, park, waterway or...anywhere! Pick it up. Bin it. And keep our ocean free of plastic pollution. #Take3fortheSea - Transition Bondi
Transition Bondi is a community group in Sydney, Australia, based on the principles of the global Transition Town movement. Through workshops and events, such as their popular Guest Dinner night, Men & Remake, a monthly Dig Day at their community garden and a farmers market stall. Transition Bondi brings people together to share, learn and be active in creating a more sustainable community and world. Transition Bondi believes addressing the big issues of our time, from food security to dependence on fossil fuels, starts at the local level - here in Bondi Beach. - BIKEast
BIKEast is the bicycle user group representing people riding bicycles to commute, for recreation or for just getting around in the eastern suburbs of Sydney. BIKEast is affiliated with Bicycle NSW. Find out more on the facebook page . - Responsible Cafes
Passionate about improving sustainability at cafes? Lend a hand to reduce the 1 billion disposable coffee cups wasted in Australia every year. And don't forget your reusable cup! - Surfrider Foundation
Surfrider Foundation is dedicated to the protection of Australia’s waves and beaches through conservation, activism, research and education. Register your interest to volunteer at Bondi Beach via bondi@surfrider.org.au - Eastern Suburbs Sustainable Schools Network
A network of teachers and parents in the Eastern Suburbs that meet once a term to share sustainable school ideas and activities.. - Underwater Research Group, NSW
