Gardening in public spaces

""

Before starting a new garden located in a public space in Waverley, we encourage locals to have a chat with an existing shared garden group. Most of our shared garden teams are always looking for new members to join and help maintain their patch.

If you are interested in creating a new garden in a public space, such as a park or reserve, you will need to submit an Expression of Interest form to connected@waverley.nsw.gov.au detailing the location and plans for the garden. Feedback on your public garden proposal can take up to six weeks, with the Public Garden Advisory Panel meeting monthly.

Proposals for a verge garden in front of your property can be made here. If you don’t own the property where you would like to create a new verge garden, submit a public gardening Expression of Interest form for consideration. See our Public Gardening Policy for further details.
