Community & Cultural Grants
This program aims to support the delivery of identifiable social, cultural, and recreational benefits to Waverley’s community. We encourage innovative project proposals that align with Waverley’s Community Strategic Plan. The plan drives the delivery of projects and programs to address identified needs and aspirations in the community underpinned by the social justice principles of equity, access, rights, and participation for all.
In 2021 Council endorsed the Waverley Arts and Culture Plan 2021-26 here.
Community & Cultural's next grant round: Open 1 March - Close 5 April 2024
To be eligible for a grant, the activity proposed must principally provide benefit to the Waverley community, and not the applicant. Individuals, community groups, and services are eligible to apply, as well as sole traders and small business engaged in the creative industries.
Before submitting an application, please read our Community & Cultural Grants Guidelines.
If you're submitting a proposal for a garden on public land, please first email publicgardening@waverley.nsw.gov.au
Grants are made available in two rounds a year. Groups meeting the program criteria can apply for one grant per round, up to the value of $5,000. Grants over this amount may be made at Council’s discretion. Applicants are encouraged to contribute towards their proposed project through cash and or in-kind contributions.
Please read the Program Guidelines and ensure that your application provides the detail required for assessment. This includes detail about what you plan to do, who will be involved in the delivery of your project and who will benefit from it, when and where you plan to do it, how the proposal has value for the community and how the grant funding will help you to deliver it.
As per the agreement signed with your application, you must:
- Use the funding in line with Council's grant conditions and for the purpose stated in my application within 12 months, or make an application for a variation and/ or extension
- Accept Council’s guidelines and any special conditions that may be specified in the letter of offer
- Appropriately acknowledge Council’s support in promotional material and other information relating to the project. A guideline on use of Council's logo will be provided
- Keep us informed of progress on your project, and send an invitation to any associated opening or launch to smallgrants@waverley.nsw.gov.au
- Complete a short evaluation report provided by Council within a month of completion of your project.
Your report must include:
- A financial statement with evidence of project expenditure
- A brief case study outlining project results, who was involved, achieved project measures (as specified in this application) and photos or videos that Council may use to promote awareness of community achievements under the Small Grants Program
- Completed permission to publish forms, as provided by Council for people featured in photos and videos.
6. Return any unspent funds exceeding $100 to Council
