Waverley Council hosts citizenship ceremonies every month for local residents who have been approved by the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP) to become Australian citizens.

Applying for Citizenship

If you wish to become an Australian Citizen, you must first apply to the Department of Immigration & Border Protection (DIBP). DIBP will notify you in writing if you are successful and will advise the date, time and location of your citizenship ceremony.

Waverley Council does not play any part in determining your application or which ceremony you will be invited to attend if your citizenship application is approved - these decisions are all made by DIBP. Any questions or queries related to your application should be directed to DIBP via the Citizenship Information Line on 131 880.
