Waverley Community Living Program (WCLP)
WCLP provides services to support adults with an intellectual disability to live fulfilling and independent lives.
We work with each participant and the important people in their lives to understand their unique abilities, skills, life experiences and goals. Our service and support are tailored to the needs and choices of each individual.
WCLP was established by Council in 1985. It was a response to local families needing help with accommodation and independent living support for their adult children with an intellectual disability. At this time, there were very few services in the eastern suburbs to support people to live independently.
Supports and Services
Skills development and training for individuals or in a group setting. We work with people to harness their strengths, build their confidence and develop skills across a range of topics. Topics range from computer skills, holiday planning, budgeting, time management, and developing creative skills in photography and in arts and craft.
Independent living skills for leading a healthy lifestyle and staying socially connected. We help people develop skills and learn about budgets, cooking, domestic tasks, self-care, personal growth, and developing and maintaining friendships and relationships.
Accommodation places and managing a tenancy and home. We support participants to live in a home of their choice. We have nine accommodation places and specialise in transitioning people from home into independent living. We also connect participants to a local peer support network where they can share their experiences and get support.
Social and recreational activities for everyone. We support participants to connect with others and to attend cafes, gigs, shows, art galleries, sports, cultural events and more.
We actively involve participants in the design of activities that are of interest to them. Take a look at some of our recent projects co-designed by WCLP participants.
