Workshops
NOTE! Waverley Council’s cycling workshops are currently on hold.
Waverley Council does not currently run any bike maintenance or cycling skills workshops. Until these are reinstated check the City of Sydney website for their courses at Sydney Park.
Waverley Council run a series of FREE cycling skills and bicycle maintenance workshops to encourage the easy and safe use of bikes. The cycling skills workshops aim to improve the cycling skills of less confident riders, those who haven’t ridden for a while and would like to start cycling again, and those who would like to start commuting using a bike.
Our workshops are designed for adults (minimum age 14 years). Bookings are essential.
For workshops and classes designed for younger people, please contact Sydney Cycleways
Bike Maintenance - Beginner level
The bike maintenance workshop helps you feel confident around maintaining and completing small fixes on your bike. Learn how to care for your bicycle including changing a flat tyre, brake and gear adjustments and chain maintenance.
Please bring your bike along for this practical, hands-on workshop.
For bookings and more information, contact our Customer Service Centre on 9083 8000 or email: transport@waverley.nsw.gov.au.
You can also visit our What’s On calendar for more environmental workshops and Waverley Council events.
Cycling Skills Workshop - Rusty Riders
Haven’t ridden for a while and feeling a bit rusty? This course is designed for people who are looking to regain skills and confidence on the bike. This workshop will teach you:
- starting and stopping with ease
- using your gears
- stopping safely and suddenly
- looking behind whilst in a straight line
- signalling left and right.
This workshop is ideal for:
- those who haven't ridden for many years
- those who have only just learnt to ride.
Please bring your helmet and a roadworthy bicycle with gears.
Cycling Skills Workshop - Cycling in the City
Waverley Council no longer runs the Cycling in the City workshops. We recommend anyone seeking cycling skills for riding confidently on the road to check out the City of Sydney’s Cycling in the City workshops at Sydney Park.
