Request a mobility parking space
How to request a dedicated parking space near your home if you have limited mobility.
On this page:
About the permit
A mobility parking space is a dedicated parking space installed on the street near your home for people with limited mobility.
The space can only be used by vehicles displaying a valid Mobility Parking Scheme permit.
There is no fee to request a mobility parking space.
Eligibility
You can request a mobility parking space if:
- You live in the Waverley local area.
- You hold a mobility parking permit.
- The application is for a vehicle registered to your address.
- There is no suitable off-street parking available.
Reasons why a space might not be provided:
- There is suitable off-street parking available at your property.
- A mobility parking space already exists nearby (approximately 50 metres of your property).
- The proposed location would create unsafe traffic conditions. For example, reduce visibility for drivers, affect traffic flow, or block access to driveways or interfere with other road users.
What you'll need
- Two documents showing where you live.
- A copy of both sides of your mobility parking permit.
- A copy of your current vehicle registration certificate showing the same address as your residence.
- If you live in an apartment with a strata manager, a letter confirming you do not have an allocated off-street parking space.
- Any supporting information that explains why a mobility parking space is needed.
- Current driver's licence.
- Rates notice.
- Utility bill showing your residential address.
- A letter from your doctor or specialist.
- An occupational therapist assessment.
- Information explaining why you cannot safely or reasonably access your home from existing parking.
- Details about mobility aids you use, such as a wheelchair, walker or mobility scooter.
Costs
There is no fee to request a mobility parking space.
How to apply
- Download the application form.
- Fill in your details and upload your supporting documents.
- Describe why you need access to an on-street mobility parking space.
- Submit your request to parkingadmin@waverley.nsw.gov.au.
What happens next
Council will assess your eligibility.
A Council officer may contact you to arrange a site visit if required.
If your application is successful, a Council officer will prepare a report for approval.
If approved, Council will arrange for the mobility parking signs to be installed.
