On-demand home recycling with ReSmart

Waverley residents can book a free monthly home collection for hard-to-recycle items that don’t go in kerbside bins, such as e-waste, soft plastics, batteries and clothing.
What you can recycle
You can recycle up to four shopping bags or a 120L box for free. Items include:
- E-waste
- Soft plastics
- Batteries, vapes and x-rays
- Clothing, shoes, accessories and cosmetics
- Paint (2L limit)
- Blister packs, aluminium coffee pods and polystyrene
- Metal cookware
What you can’t recycle
Don’t use this service for items that would go in our regular kerbside bins, such as household garbage, glass, hard plastics, paper and cardboard, garden organics and food waste. For more information see Bins & collection days.
Volumes larger than four shopping bags or a 120L box can be collected for a fee.

Frequently asked questions
Collected items are sent to specialist recycling companies to be reused or recycled responsibly. Items are sorted and sent to the most appropriate recycling or recovery pathway available.
You may use any bag, box, tub or container, as long as the total volume is 120 litres or less, and each container can be safely lifted by one person.
120 litres is approximately:
- 4 fabric shopping bags (40 cm x 20 cm x 20 cm)
- 2 small storage tubs (60cm x 45cm x 30cm)
- 6–8 shoebox-sized boxes (30cm x 20cm x 10cm)
We encourage residents to maximise each collection so more households can access the service and vehicle emissions are reduced.
Where possible, separate items by category using multiple containers.
- Keep soft plastics separate to prevent contamination of clothing and other recyclables.
- Group small items together (such as batteries, vapes and blister packs) and place them in a clearly visible container or on top, so nothing is missed during sorting.
Yes. Residents of large buildings (30+ units) can contact ReSmart or Waverley Council to arrange a regular shared collection service.
