Beach Parking Permits
Beach Parking Permits provide the opportunity for unlimited parking in the Queen Elizabeth Drive car park at Bondi Beach, and the Bronte Cutting car park at Bronte Beach. The permit is valid only for the nominated vehicle, and is not transferable to other vehicles.
Beach Parking Permits do not guarantee that a space will be available. Parking is supplied on a first come, first serve basis in both car parks.
Please note that while the temporary COVID Testing Facility is located in Park Drive North motorists with a valid Beach Parking Permit displayed will be eligible to park in Park Drive South.
Beach Parking Permits are available to everyone. However, priority is given to Waverley residents and ratepayers who receive a substantial discount on the cost of the permit.
The permit carries an annual fee of $1745.00, which represents the value of parking available. Six month and three month permits are available at a reduced fee.
The annual fee is discounted to $150.00 for residents and rate payers of Waverley Council. This represents the cost of administration and a proportion of the system operating costs. Six month and concession permits are also available.
Unregistered vehicles are not eligible for a permit. Due to the physical constraints of the car parks Council has recommended that permits not be issued to trucks, trailers, boat trailers, caravans or any vehicle with a length greater than 6 metres.
Applications can be made by emailing parkingadmin@waverley.nsw.gov.au or in person at the Customer Service Centre, 55 Spring Street, Bondi Junction. To obtain a permit, you need to complete a Parking Permit application form, provide supporting documentation and pay the specified fee.
For a full fee permit, you need to provide the following documents:
- for private vehicles: your vehicle registration showing that you are the registered owner, or
- for company vehicles: the current vehicle registration and a letter on company stationery stating that you have sole use of the vehicle and that it is garaged at your residential address. In some cases, you may also be required to provide a Company Extract showing your position with the company (available from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission).
For a discount permit, you need to provide the following documents:
- for residents: NSW Drivers Licence, showing address within Waverley or Residential Tenancy Agreement and at least one of the following showing the applicant's address:
- Rental Bond Board receipt
- a receipted (paid) energy account
- a receipted (paid) home contents insurance certificate of currency, or
- Electoral roll card.
- for ratepayers: your rates notice showing name of applicant.
- for private vehicles: your vehicle registration showing that you are the registered owner, or
- for company vehicles: the current vehicle registration and a letter on company stationery stating that you have sole use of the vehicle and that it is garaged at your residential address. Company Directors need to provide a Company Extract showing your position with the company (available from the Australian Securities and Investment Commission).
Yes, but only one permit can be issued per vehicle.
6 or 12 Month Permits are valid from the date of issue, for each of these periods respectively. For information about the fees for Beach Parking Permits, please refer to the Parking Permit application form.
You will receive a sticker to stick on the front windshield of your vehicle. This system has replaced the previous Smartcard.
Yes, other drivers can use the permit, as long as they are using the nominated vehicle that the permit has been issued to. Permits are not transferable to other vehicles.
Lost permits incur a $20.50 replacement fee.
