Green lid garden waste bin

Council offers residents a fortnightly collection of their green lid garden waste bin. Find your collection day here.

Houses and terraces are entitled to either an 140 litre or 240 litre bin. Multi-unit dwellings such as apartment buildings are entitled to have a maximum of two 240 litre bins.

What can go in the green lid recycling bin?

Your green lid bin is for garden waste, including:

  • small branches
  • grass clippings
  • leaves
  • weeds
  • flowers
  • garden cuttings, including vegetable cuttings (like carrot tops)

What cannot go in the green lid recycling bin?

Putting the wrong items in your green lid bin can result in the bin contents going to landfill instead of being recycled. Do not put the following items into your green lid recycling bin:

  • soil or rocks
  • tree stumps
  • plastic bags and soft plastics
  • compostable plastics
  • food scraps
  • wood building materials, including treated and untreated timber
