Bondi Pavilion Housewarming Program

This new Artist Residency Program welcomes artists into the renovated Bondi Pavilion in August, ahead of the official launch of the building.

The Housewarming Program supports and celebrates the Pavilion’s ‘artist first’ ethos, filling the sparkling new spaces with powerful, engaging art and ideas.

Seven artists/groups, selected from a range of disciplines and levels of experience, will participate in one to two week residencies in the Bondi Pavilion Theatre; Art Gallery, the Seagull,  High Tide and Yalagang Rooms and the Music, Art and Pottery Studios. The artists will receive a stipend to assist their research and development of work across visual arts, music, writing, dance, theatre, performance, audio visual and digital media.

Meet the artists

• 

  Elizabeth Jigalin

  Elizabeth Jigalin is a composer and performer based in Sydney on Gadigal land. As part of the Bondi Pavilion Housewarming Program, she will be composing a new soundtrack to accompany the 1926 silent film documentary Beautiful Bondi - a film that documents the activities, attractions and people of the Waverley locale in the 1920s

  Sarah Jane Moore

  Dr Sarah Jane Moore is a multidisciplinary artist who lives in Bondi where she creates worlds and sings to others so that they may visualise, listen and connect.

  Sally Sussman

  North Bondi is a research and development project for a site-specific perambulatory performance with audio guide. It will traverse the streets of the most northerly parts of the Waverley Council area – beginning from the South Head Cemetery and walking down towards the Bondi Pavilion.

• 

  Lost All Sorts Collective

  Lost All Sorts is a multi-disciplinary collective of Independent First Nations Artists from many different Nations, all of whom are graduates of NAISDA Dance College, Australia’s leading Indigenous Dance College. The collective was formed, “to maintain our values and virtues as artists and friends.

  Joanna Cole

  The Joanna Cole Collaboration group comprises women with strong connections to the Bondi area, each responding to the landscape and community, each with diverse applications of artmaking media.

• 

  Anna Munster & Michele Barker

  During the Bondi Pavilion Housewarming Program, Anna and Michele will collaborate with singer Nadia Piave and local community groups, oriented to surfing and mental health, to develop ‘holding on’ … a series of live audiovisual performances.

• 

  Felicity Nicol

  The Bond Pavilion Housewarming Program will see Felicity continue developing her new work, Political Animals (PA). PA is a theatrical and historical exploration of the role of protests, parties, politics and the personal within the LGBTQIA+ community.
