Lauren Townsend

Hello, I am Lauren Townsend one of your Liberal Councillors for Lawson Ward.

I grew up in Bronte and have lived in Waverley most of my life. I attended local schools, was taught to swim by Barry Rogers and was a Bronte Nipper. I have always been passionate about service; fundraising for the Cancer Council and volunteering for the Red Cross and the Salvation Army. I was formerly on the Committee of the Bronte Beach Precinct.

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New England and a Juris Doctor from the University of Technology, Sydney. I have devoted my career to promoting access to justice and am a fierce advocate for fairness and the underdog. As a skilled legal advocate, I represent some of the most disadvantaged members of our community and am not one to shy away from assisting people in need and to advocate on their behalf.

I have been working in remote and regional communities and I’ve come home with a renewed love for our own beautiful area and a strong desire to now serve my own community.

I am committed to using my professional skills to be a strong advocate for the people of Lawson; in a manner that will always uphold the principles of fair process and a respect for various views.

In my downtime, you can often find me enjoying our coastal walk, or in our cafes with my precocious Dachshund, Oscar. I love Bronte and I want to see Waverley grow without losing her beachside character and be a comfortable place for us all to live in and get around.

I am excited to bring my skills and expertise to serve our community on Waverley Council.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve you.

Kind Regards,

Lauren Townsend
