Local Government Elections are held every four years, on the second Saturday of September.
The next Waverley Council Local Government Election will be held on Saturday, 4 September 2021.
In 2021 the following Councillor positions become vacant:
- Bondi Ward: 3 Vacancies
- Hunter Ward: 3 Vacancies
- Lawson Ward: 3 Vacancies
- Waverley Ward: 3 Vacancies
Waverley Council elections are conducted by the New South Wales Electoral Commission.
Waverley Council encourages everyone that is eligible, to make their vote count by participating in the election of their preferred local representative.

If you are passionate about what happens in your local community becoming a councillor is an exciting opportunity to make a difference and to represent the interests of residents. Councils are responsible for making significant decisions that have a far-reaching impact on their community.
With community diversity represented on a council comes a range of perspectives and experience. The Office of Local has developed a range of resources aimed at increasing the representation of our diverse communities on local councils.

How to Vote
Electors will have the opportunity to make their vote count by:
- Voting in person on election day; or
- Voting early and pre-polling in person; or
- Postal Voting; or
- iVote online and telephone voting If you are not sure whether you are enrolled to vote, you can check your enrolment details online. You can also update your details, find out if there's an election being held near you, and sign up to our free election reminder service to receive SMS or email reminders for when you have to vote at an election.
