2014 Winners

The 2014 Waverley Heritage & Design Awards were held on Wednesday 30 April 2014, and were proudly supported by the retailers of Charing Cross.
Mayor of Waverley, Cr Sally Betts, paid tribute to the calibre of the entries for this year's awards, which ranged from developments that improved streetscape and amenity, to new and sustainably designed developments and heritage conservation projects.

Three nominees took out the Waverley Heritage & Design Award:

The panel also nominated four entries for highly commended awards, which included:

Judging panel

The judging panel for 2014 included two external judges as well as the Mayor of Waverley, Cr Sally Betts, Cr Ingrid Strewe, Cr Angela Burrill and Council's Director of Planning and Environmental Services, Peter Monks.

External judges for the 2014 Awards were:

Sam Crawford

Sam was the winner of an Award in the 2013 Waverley Design Awards. His firm has also been the recipient of several state and national architecture awards including the Australian Institute of Architects Awards in 2003, 2006, and 2012, Australian Timber Design Awards in 2002 and 2005, the Vision Award in 2010. Sam also participates as a guest design critique at NSW universities and co-ordinates an international speaker series at the Australian Institute of Architects.

Ian Stapleton

Ian is a principal of Clive Lucas, Stapleton & Partners, a firm of Sydney-based architects that specialises in restoring, adapting, and adding to historic buildings, as well as undertaking heritage assessment and conservation planning. The firm also undertakes new buildings in the settings of historic buildings.
