Waverley Council is delighted to announce the winners of this year’s Mark and Evette Moran Nib Literary Award. For the first time in Nib Award history, these winners were announced in an online celebration at 8am, Thursday 12 November.

News item: Bondi, Bronte and Tamarama beaches, and Bronte Pool, are currently closed for swimming and will likely remain closed all day today.

Council is assessing a modified proposal for a beach club on Bondi Beach from a commercial operator. The proposal is for a section of Bondi Beach to be utilised for the commercial activity of a beach club between February and May 2021. Read more.

Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils have achieved a massive milestone this October. Compost Revolution, a program started by the three Councils to help locals learn how to compost and reduce food waste, has turned 10!

News: Sydney Water is currently repairing a damaged wastewater pipe along the Diamond Bay Cliff walkway, between Kimberley Street and Craig Avenue, Vaucluse. This work will help to improve the wastewater system and ensure it remains reliable, to protect public health and the environment.

Our Rangers, Beach Ambassadors and Lifeguards have been monitoring our public open spaces across the long weekend. Whilst our beaches and our parks have been busy, most people have been doing the right thing and following the Public Health Orders.

Waverley Council wishes to advise that Bondi Beach is nearing capacity. If people continue to come to Bondi Beach and crowds grow further, restricted access to the sand may need to be implemented.

Magpies usually breed during Spring every year, and it's during this time that their protective swooping behaviour is in full force.  Magpies are urban species too, so there is generally no escaping them but you can try to prevent and avoid a magpie attack by following these tips.
