- Apply to be an artist on the Bondi Beach Sea Wall
Apply to be an artist on the Bondi Beach Sea Wall
29 June 2020 | Media Release
29 June 2020
To support the diverse and dynamic character of Bondi Beach, Waverley Council is inviting artists to submit their unique designs for the historic Bondi Beach Sea Wall.
Each successful applicant will have their artwork displayed on a panel on the sea wall for a period of six months starting this summer.
Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said artists also have the opportunity to create designs for the concrete blocks lining Campbell Parade and across south Bondi Park. Artists may apply for up to ten bollards to create a body of work or a series of works.
“The Bondi Beach Sea Wall has been in operation since the late 1970s and has featured a mix of street and contemporary art with strong social messages throughout the decades,” Mayor Masselos said.
“Over the years, the Sea Wall has hosted the work of some of the best know street artists across the globe. Featured art works have ranged from collages, stencils, pop art, text works, love notes and memorial portraits.
“The Sea Wall is a striking backdrop to our most famous beach and is viewed by millions of people each year.
Applications close 20 July 2020. To apply visit: https://www.waverley.nsw.gov.au/recreation/arts_and_culture/bondi_beach_sea_wall/bondi_sea_wall_application_form
