Have Your Say about resident parking in parts of Bondi Beach

18 September 2023

Waverley Council is inviting feedback on a proposal to extend its Resident Parking Scheme (RPS) in two areas:

  • Survey Area F: Wallis Parade and parts of Military Road, Hastings Parade, and Wairoa Avenue.
  • Survey Area G: Glenayr Avenue, Oakley Road, and O’Donnell Street, north of Blair Street, and west of Mitchell Street.

We are asking residents whether they would support the extension of the RPS areas, and if so, the preferred days and times.

Since 2022, we have been consulting with residents in various parts of Waverley where parking has become increasingly difficult in recent years. In all areas consulted so far, residents have supported the extension of resident parking schemes.

Options include:

  • 8am - 6pm
  • 8am - 8pm
  • 8am - 10pm
  • Every day of the week, or just Monday - Saturday.

Council will also be seeking information on how many off-street parking spots residents have access to in the area.

“We know how frustrating it has become for residents in these areas to find a park near their homes. Given our experience in other areas, our view is that the introduction of a two-hour time limit for non-residents is a fair way to balance the demand for parking between residents and visitors to our neighbourhoods,” Mayor Masselos said.

“It’s about striking the right balance, so we’re keen to hear from residents who live in these two survey areas in Bondi Beach.”

To provide feedback, visit haveyoursay.waverley.nsw.gov.au/traffic. Consultation closes Monday 25 September.

Feedback will be reviewed by Council Officers, and a report will be prepared for Council’s Traffic Committee, which includes representatives from NSW Police and Transport for NSW.
