Nominations open for Waverley Planning Panel Community Representatives

NOMINATIONS OPEN
Council is currently seeking nominations for community representatives to its new Planning Panel.
Selection Criteria
The local community representatives should:
- Be current residents within the Waverley local government area (LGA)
- Have knowledge and awareness of the Waverley LGA, and be aware of issues of concern to the local community
- Be able to represent and communicate the interests of the local community
- Have an understanding of the planning process and assessment issues (but not expected to be an expert)
- Commit to attending the panel meetings and contributing constructively to the determination of applications
- Be willing to adhere to the relevant code of conduct and operational procedures
Further, it is desirable the community representatives also have:
- Qualifications or experience in one or more of the following areas: planning, architecture, heritage, environment, urban design, economics, traffic and transport, law, engineering, tourism, or government and public administration.
Community representatives will be expected to attend approximately 12 meetings a year. The meetings will be held during the day with the duration dependent on the number of applications being considered. Membership of the panel is for up to three years.
The position is a part-time paid role starting March 2018. The position will be paid in accordance with rates to be set by the NSW Government. Further details will be provided on this shortly.
In accordance with the Act, Councillors, property developers and real estate agents are not eligible to be a member of the panel.
