You've heard of matching food and wine, why not try matching food and music at this year's Global Table on Sunday 6 May.

Oxford Street Mall will again be the site of a 35-metre long communal table laden with dishes from around the world, enjoyed by Waverley's global population.

So grab a biriyani or a tandoori dish while you enjoy north Indian Bhangra dance. Match a lemon myrtle mocktail with Walangari Karntawarra's Aboriginal dance and digeridoo or a South East Asian murtabak with Indonesian dance. Or you can mix and match, going to Italy, via Spain with a paella while you listen to Sylvana Bonacci sing Italian popular songs.

Waverley Mayor John Wakefield said Global Table was a highly anticipated event on the local calendar each year.

“Global Table is such a great way to celebrate each other’s cultures and to show that everyone is welcome here,” Mayor Wakefield said.

“Oxford Street Mall will be completely transformed into a foodie’s dream and our entertainment stage is jam-packed with international performers from 11am.

“The Global Table is one of Waverley’s most loved community events and I hope to see you at Oxford Street Mall on Sunday 6 May for a great day out!”

So join us for tribal style belly dancing, Egyptian kosahari, Greek and Russian dancing and French crepes while you are mesmorised by Te Huinga Waka Maori Kapahaka Group.

Don't forget Vietnamese spring rolls, Hungarian goulash and Turkish sucuk to a backdrop of Sri Lankan dance and music.

Whichever way you do it, take your taste buds on a world trip through a culinary and cultural experience you won't forget.
