Bronte Road Closures on Australia Day 2017

20 January 2017

Australia Day is the single busiest day of the year for people visiting Bronte Park. In recent years, traffic congestion has been extremely high due to the significant number of vehicles circulating and looking for parking spaces.

The NSW Police Force has advised Council that it is essential to make a section of Bronte Road one-way on Australia Day for vehicle and pedestrian safety, and to also ensure that emergency vehicles such as ambulances can access Bronte Beach and Park if required.

As such, Bronte Road will become one-way westbound, between Nelson Avenue and Gardyne Street on Thursday 26 January 2017, between 8.30am and 8pm. Gardyne Street, St Thomas Street and Yanko Avenue will be open to resident vehicle access only.

Police officers will be on-site to direct traffic with support from Council. A detour from Bronte Road to access Bronte Beach via Evans Street and Macpherson Street will be in place during the hours that the changes are in place.
