Waverley Art Prize expands in 2024 with a new Local Prize category

Entries are now open for the 38thWaverley Art Prize across painting, drawing, print and mixed media.
The Waverley Art Prize is aimed for early to mid-career artists and is awarded across four categories:
- Open Prize: $15,000 and acquisition into the Waverley Council Collection
- The Mayor’s Prize: $2,000 and acquisition into the Waverley Council Collection
- The Local Prize: $1,000 non-acquisitive sponsored by Waverley Woollahra Art School
- The People’s Choice Prize: $500 non-acquisitive
Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos said the Waverley Art Prize is returning to the Bondi Pavilion Gallery this year as Bondi’s staple event in the local and national art prize calendar.
“We’re looking forward to another fantastic year of the Waverley Art Prize with a strong female Judging panel I have no doubt this year will see some of the best artists in the country on display in the Bondi Pavilion Gallery” Mayor Masselos said.
Funds raised through the art prize support Waverley Woollahra Art School and help them sustain their role as the longest-running artist-run initiative in Waverley.
Entries close on Monday 13 May 2024 and this year’s Judges are Julia Gutman, artist and Joan Ross, artist.

- Prize announcements: Friday 5 July 2024
- Exhibition dates: Saturday 6 July – Wednesday 18 August 2024
- Closing drinks: Wednesday 18 August 2024
