Following today’s announcement of stay-at-home orders for the Waverley, Woollahra, Randwick and City of Sydney LGAs, Waverley Council has made the decision to cancel Bondi Festival 2021.

This decision has been made with the safety of our staff, artists, contractors and audiences in mind, and in line with the NSW government’s response to keep our community safe.

“We are disappointed we’ve had to cancel our Festival on the day that it was due to come to life but the safety of the community is our highest priority. Our 2021 Festival was created with robust COVID-19 measures in place, but given the current situation, we know that this is the right call to make”, said Festival Director, Rachel Chant.

“Many of our artists and contractors originally started preparing their shows for our cancelled 2020 festival, so we are heartbroken that they are unable to share their work with audiences again in 2021”, said Festival Director, Phil Spencer.

Anyone who purchased tickets for events or activities during the Festival will be contacted directly by the Festival team to arrange a refund.

“Our thoughts go out to everyone who has worked tirelessly on the Festival over the past year and we want to especially thank our artists, sponsors and partners for supporting us on this journey”, said Paula Masselos, Mayor of Waverley.

Bondi Festival is presented by Waverley Council and the Bondi and District Chamber of Commerce.
