Key Waverley Council projects acknowledged at NSW Architecture Awards

Waverley Council wish to congratulate two leading architects for their design and construction projects at Bondi Beach after receiving a prestigious accolade at the New South Wales Architecture Awards held at Luna Park recently.

Both the Bondi Park Picnic Shelters designed by Tonkin Zulaikha Greer Architects, and the North Bondi Amenities Building designed by Sam Crawford Architects with Lymesmith, jointly won the Small Project Architecture category.

The North Bondi Amenities building also received a Commendation in the Public Architecture category.

The annual event hosted by the Australian Institute of Architects saw 66 awards and commendations bestowed upon recipients from a number of categories including public, education, commercial residential, urban design,sustainable and heritage design.

“Waverley Council places huge importance on quality design outcomes for all of our major construction projects that will celebrate the unique beauty of Waverley.

“I am delighted to see talented architects being acknowledged for their creativity and hard work in delivering amazing design outcomes.

“Waverley Council leads the way in NSW providing innovative and quality infrastructure and amenities for residents and visitors and so it is great to get this recognised.” Mayor Betts said.

The recipients who received an award will now progress to the National Architecture Awards to be announced in Canberra on Thursday 2 November.
