Bondi Wave Music Conference Returns
15 June 2017 | Media Release
MEDIA RELEASE
The Bondi WAVE Music Industry Conference is back this June with an exciting line up of professionals to help equip budding talent with the information and resources needed to be successful in the industry.
The council-run event, held at the Bondi Pavilion theatre on the 23 June, is an important networking and information-sharing event for anyone wanting to become a part of the music industry.
Now in its 26th year, the conference forms part of the WAVE Youth Band Songwriting Program – a 12-week course for high school bands that teaches groups how to write and arrange their own original music.
Complementing the Songwriting Program, the Music Industry Conference introduces industry experts to young musicians and students who want to make music their career choice.
Mayor for Waverley, Sally Betts said, “Bondi Wave is a significant event in Australia’s ever-changing music culture, providing comprehensive knowledge to those entering or already established in the industry.
“Music hopefuls get to meet artists, label managers, publishers, programmers and producers who are already in the industry in one place. It’s an invaluable opportunity not to be missed.”
Lindy Morrison (OAM), conference organiser, member of seminal Australian band The Go-Betweens and tireless music industry educator and social worker, also articulates the value of this event.
“The Wave Conference has consistently delivered speakers who are key players in the Australian music industry. These industry figures are generous with their information and networking. This free conference is a must for anyone who loves the music industry”.
This year’s speakers include Aussie rock star Matt Mason from the DMA'S and former Wave Alumni, Mark Butterworth (Music Partnerships at Google and YouTube Play),Gab Ryan (Marketing Manager at Inertia Music) and Nicholas Chugg (Chugg Music).
Even more exciting is the opportunity for participants to have their songs heard by a panel of industry experts on the day – a unique chance to receive feedback on their work.
Don’t miss out on tickets to this unique Music Industry Conference Day. It runs from 10am-4pm, is a free event but participants must register at eventbrite.com.au to secure a seat.
