Let’s get lit: Waverley Council launches Light Up Waverley, a festive lights competition
20 November 2023
Waverley Council is encouraging residents, schools, and businesses in the area to get into the festive spirit by decorating their outdoor spaces and entering their handiwork into the Light Up Waverley festive lights competition.
Paula Masselos, Mayor of Waverley, said “our community is known for being a colourful and vibrant one, and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate this festive season.”
“There are some great prizes thanks to our sponsor, Premium Solutions Group. Winners in each of the six categories will receive a $250 gift card.”
“As a Council, one of Waverley’s key focuses is sustainability so we’re encouraging people to get creative with their displays – think solar powered light displays, hidden treasures from the op-shop, or upcycled and repurposed materials. We’ve got a special sustainable display category, and we’d love to see a healthy number of entries competing in to win this prize.”
“The end of 2023 has been stressful for many in our community, and I hope enjoying festive lights and decoration displays will help bring people together with holiday spirit. Above all, I wish the residents of Waverley a peaceful festive season and as we bring in the new year we look to a more peaceful and brighter future.”
