Waverley Council is supporting NSW Health by providing the High Tide Room at Bondi Pavilion for use as a community COVID-19 screening clinic.

The St Vincent’s Hospital-run clinic will be open from 9am to 5pm seven days a week for those who meet the testing criteria which is people living or working in Bondi Beach or Bondi Junction who have:

* fever or history of fever

-or-

* symptoms of acute respiratory infection (cough, short of breath, sore throat).

Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said the Council supports any move by NSW Health to increase the community’s access to testing.

“The Waverley LGA continues to have the highest number of COVID-19 cases in NSW and it is imperative that we work together as a community to help slow the spread of this virus. This Clinic will target those, particularly in the backpacker community by providing easily accessible testing for those who meet the criteria,” Mayor Masselos said.

“We want to ensure the right people are getting tested where necessary. This applies to everyone in our community including our permanent residents and temporary residents and visitors from overseas.

“I cannot stress enough how vital it is to remain vigilant about social distancing and to observe new Public Health Orders now in place.

“While many in our community are doing the right thing some people are still continue to disregard the advice. I am appealing to the community to take ownership of their health and to continue to respect our Council staff including Lifeguards and Rangers who are helping keep the community safe.”

All other areas within Bondi Pavilion remain closed to the public.
