Becoming a Family Day Care educator
Want a home-based career and to make a difference?
As part of our commitment to providing quality care for families, Waverley Council is expanding our local Family Day Care scheme, a network of self-employed educators providing home-based quality child care that provides a familiar, safe and secure learning home environment with a maximum of four children (0-5 years) in care.
To do this, we need more Family Day Care Educators.
Initial set up costs are low. Let council provide you with the tools to set up your new business:
- training
- placement of children
- administration
- professional child care advice
- personal visits and telephone support
- networking and lots more.
Waverley Council Family Day Care Educators have to meet strict safety and workplace standards to make sure children are getting the best care possible. We also ensure that there is the highest standard of education, creating a program based on the Department of Education's Early Year's Learning Framework that meets the individual needs and developmental levels of each child.
Waverley Council’s Family Day Care Policy states that every educator must obtain (or actively working towards) a Certificate 111 in Children Services. This qualification teaches you to how to care for children, nurture their development and make sure their environment is safe and supportive.
TAFE NSW run a variety of related courses, including Certificate III in Children Services.
Currently Waverley Family Day Care is offered within the Waverley Local Government Area, however we also encourage educators in surrounding suburbs to apply.
