- Tuning into Kids program
Tuning into Kids program

Online via Zoom
Details
Tuning Into Kids (TIK) is a FREE, evidence-based parenting program that can make a positive difference to your child’s development by practising strategies that help you teach your child the skills of emotional intelligence. Join us weekly from 6.30 - 8.30 pm for this 5-week evidence-based program, open to parents of children aged 10 and up. The program will be conducted online via Zoom.
What is emotional intelligence?
Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is about using your emotions to guide you through the world. It is about being able to use your knowledge of emotions to make decisions, to calm yourself down, to manage anger and conflict, to help you in your relationships with people, to understand what is happening in social situations, and to assist you in any aspects of life that involves you and another person.
People who are emotionally intelligent have better life outcomes, and kids who learn from and grow up with emotionally intelligent parents and role models are happier and healthier.
Why is EQ important?
When parents focus on helping their child learn about emotions, the child is more likely to have a higher EQ. Children with great EQ have been shown to:
- be successful academically,
- be more able to self-soothe when upset or angry,
- tend to have fewer childhood illnesses,
- have more stable and satisfying relationships as adults,
- have greater career success.
What does the 5-week program include?
During this program, parents will develop an understanding of emotions, investigate how to build relationships through effective use of communication, and learn how to build self-care and problem-solving skills.
