Kids

Your library has much more than just books!  We have a warm and welcoming space for parents and children alike.

The internet access computers are specifically for children and have all the access and software they could need for gaming, as well as getting onto Mathletics or completing a PowerPoint presentation. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building as well as a kid friendly study space.

Programs

There are a HUGE range of programming on offer at the Library, and we look forward to seeing you there!

Our regular free programming during school term includes: Book Babies on Mondays for 0-2yr olds, Rocking Rhymetime on Thursdays for 2-3yr olds and Tales for Tykes on Tuesdays for 3-5yr olds.

We offer a selection of afterschool programming for 5+yrs each term, and of course we couldn’t forget about our School Holiday Programs, festival days and special one-off events.

Collections

We offer a huge selection of free resources for kids to browse and borrow, including  board books and picture books, early readers, chapter books and junior graphic novels. With a range of classics to bestsellers for all ages, we are sure to have something you’ll love.

Let’s not forget about our amazing free eResources! Using the Overdrive Libby app, you can download kids’ ebooks and e-audio books from home.

If you are finding it difficult to understand your child’s literacy development, why not check out Ziptales, a great service created by teachers to develop and sustain a love of reading in children.

Need help with your homework? We’ve got you covered with a diverse selection of junior non-fiction titles, online databases, and even the free online tutoring service Studiosity that you can access from home.

Youth & Students

The Library has a range of free services, collections and programs specifically for young people and students.

Services

We have a large study area with plenty of desks, as well as free study rooms available for Library members. These are great for privacy or group work for projects.  You can make a study room booking by calling 9083 8733.

We also provide you with access to PCs, printing, scanning, WiFi and wireless printing .

Find Legal Answers - If you find yourself in a legal situation without necessary resources, the State Library has plenty of information specific to young people and laws which may affect them.

Drug Info - Find the answers to your questions at this State Library resource. This collection is also a great tool for supporting your PDHPE studies.

HSC

We offer a wide-ranging HSC collection both within the Library and online . We also host a range of HSC and study events for students to join throughout the year. Check out when the next one is coming up on our What’s on page.

You'll find information and featured content for each of your subjects; help online and onsite; resources you can use at home, and research guides that bring together resources relevant to particular subjects.

Study  Help

Need help with your studies? We’ve got you covered with our databases to assist in getting assignments completed. They can be accessed through our eLibrary.

If you need study assistance why not check out Studiosity. Get free study help from qualified friendly subject specialists in maths, science, English, writing and study skills. This service covers students up to Year 12, as well as those studying at TAFE and University.

Infobase Learning Cloud is a video-based how-to training resource which opens up unlimited access to thousands of short videos covering more than 500 of today's most popular software applications on both PCs and Macs.

Collections

The library’s collection is about far more than books, though we do have an impressive Young Adult fiction collection. Explore the catalogue to find out about what you can borrow.... all for free!

We also offer an impressive range of free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eComics, eMagazines, Movies and more which can be accessed from our eLibrary page to read on mobile devices.

Seniors

Computers and printing are available to access, or you can bring along your own device to access our free WiFi.

Our Home Library Service is free to eligible residents in the Waverley area.  We can deliver a selection of item to your home fortnightly or monthly.

Do you have old VHS tapes, negatives, slides and photographs? Our family history digitisation station allows you to digitise them completely free of charge.

Waverley has a great selection of free resources for your enjoyment.  Check our catalogue for new titles or search for specific authors or subjects.

Our collection includes many titles in large print or talking book formats. You are also able  to borrow an iPad to access our digital audio books, magazines and ebooks.

If you have trouble reading printed format then we have audio read navigators for your enjoyment.

Multilingual

Collections

We have a large selection of ESL resources available for people wishing to learn English or  improve their skills.

We hold books in a variety of languages including; Russian, Japanese, Chinese (traditional & simplified), French, Italian, Polish, German, Hungarian, Hebrew, Spanish and Portuguese.

Books in languages other than English can be requested from the State Library of NSW on your behalf.  Over 40 languages are available including, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Gujarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Macedonian, Nepalese, Persian, Portuguese, Punjabi, Serbian, Sinhalese, Spanish, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu Vietnamese and more. Please let us know of any language in which you read that are not available in our Library and we will place a request with the State Library.

Newspapers in Chinese and Russian languages are available as well as magazines in Russian.

Services

Relax and enjoy sitting in comfort with a magazine, newspaper or book.  There are plenty of resources to browse and programs to enjoy.

Access to computers, printing, copying and scanning is available as well as free WiFi throughout the building.

Bookable spaces are available for meetings and events.

Working and study spaces are available on both floors of the library.

A Justice of the Peace service is available on Saturdays between 10am and 12noon.
