Details
To celebrate Refugee Week Waverley Library will be hosting a special story time with guest author Nawras. This session will include stories, rhymes and a take home craft. In her debut picture book, Nawras’ 11 Year Journey, Nawras shares her story as a Mandean refugee. Born in Iraq, Nawras faced discrimination for her faith. Loneliness at school spurred her to find solace in art. Upon resettling in Australia, Nawras embraced the land's beauty, and freedom symbolised by the seagull, her namesake. Through vibrant artworks, Nawras celebrates diversity and advocates for equality.
The book is tailored for children aged 4 to 8.
