** A networking and training event for environment groups in the Eastern Suburbs, brought to you by Randwick and Waverley Councils. We recommend you nominate two people from your group to help bring back and implement the learnings from this session **

Attracting committee members is important and attracting committee members that fit your group is even more important! Having a planned and systematic approach to renewing committee positions and keeping them lively and fresh will go a long way in keeping your group sustainable.

This session will help your group plan for your committee’s succession by focussing on who is needed, what skills are required, how to find the right people and what contribution they can make. Doing this well will help promote your group’s cause and maximise the potential for attracting the right volunteers. Topics include:

  • Creating a succession plan
  • Understanding how to divide up key committee roles and responsibilities
  • Structuring committees to support the group’s activities
  • Appreciating the changing landscape of volunteering and group membership
  • Developing strategies for attracting and recruiting the right volunteers
  • Planning and enabling knowledge transition

The training will be delivered by Laurel Draffen, an experienced not-for-profit facilitator, providing the opportunity for learning from the facilitator as well as networking and engaging with other environmental group members.

A workbook will be provided, which you can use to take notes and use as a resource during and after the session.
