29 Jan: Level 2 water restrictions

Level 2 water restrictions

As NSW continues to battle the drought and ongoing bushfire crisis, we must do our bit to continue to save water, our most precious resource.

Level 2 water restrictions apply to everyone in Sydney, the Blue Mountains and the Illawarra and people can be fined for failing to observe the restrictions.

You can only water your garden before 10am or after 4pm with a watering can or bucket (no hoses at any time). Hosing of hard surfaces is not permitted, unless in an emergency or for health and safety reasons, and you can only wash a car with a bucket or at a commercial car wash.  Rules also apply to watering systems, pools and spas.

Waverley Council is also in the process of putting ups signs reminding people to limit water usage when visiting our beaches. We take water conservation and quality seriously, which is reflected in ambitious environmental targets set for our organisation and community.

I urge everyone to familiarise themselves with the full list of restrictions on the Sydney Water website lovewater.sydney

The Council is also offering assistance, resource sharing and temporary deployment of relief staff to councils in need through our involvement with the Local Government Bushfire Recovery Support Group, established by Office of Local Government, the City of Sydney, Sydney Resilience Office and Local Government NSW.
