18 Sept: RU OK? Day

RU OK? Day

RU OK? Day is our national day of action, dedicated to reminding everyone to ask, ‘Are you OK?’ and to remember every day of the year to support people who may be struggling with life’s ups and downs.

Influenced by the RUOK campaign, the children of Wee Care Kindergarten in Bondi Junction are branching out with their own wellbeing project.

It all started when educator Frances Forshlager realised how many times a day a child is asked, ‘Is everything OK?’

Children could be unhappy with their morning tea, struggling with a goodbye to Mum or simply unsure of how to initiate play with others.

The children are working with Council to wrap wool around a tree in Waverley Park close to the path through the park for everyone to see.

This work is a great project which I visited during the week and was heartened to see little minds so engaged with a big topic.
