13 Nov 2019: Bus privatisation and speed limit changes

13 November 2019

Bus privatisation

Last week, I moved an urgency motion in Council calling on the State Government to reverse its decision to privatise the last remaining State Transit-operated bus regions in NSW.

I also called on the government to reinstate the 378, 389 and 361 bus routes and to ensure the Waverley Bus depot remains in government hands and continues to operate as a working bus depot.

Waverley residents are highly supportive of public transport and are high users of public transport, as evidenced by the response to the recent Bring Back the 378 awareness campaign.

Public transport is a fundamental right, and Waverley residents are looking to our Council for leadership on this issue.

Changes to speed limits in Waverley

Waverley Council has approved plans for Stage 1 of its project to reduce traffic speeds from 50km/h to 40km/h as it moves toward ‘Vision Zero’, with zero road fatalities and minimal serious injuries across the local government area.

For more information, visit the project page on Council’s website: waverley.nsw.gov.au/changestospeedlimit.
