10 July: North Bondi mural

North Bondi mural

Waverley Council is inviting submissions from artists interested in developing a concept for our new world-famous ‘BONDI’ street art mural above Wally Weeks Pool at North Bondi.

The street art mural should contain the word “BONDI” in large capital letters in the centre of the mural at a scale that can be read from South Bondi. It should feature joyful and uplifting images or abstracted references to the North Bondi children’s pool, ocean or Bondi history and/or popular cultural imagery.

Artists have until 31 July 2019 to register at https://www.tenderlink.com/waverley/.

Council’s suite of essential repair and renewal works at North Bondi are progressing well despite recent large swells, and should take five months to complete, weather permitting.

While replacing the culvert that runs under the promenade, Council will also build a new access ramp and stairs to the children’s pool, continue to work with the original artist of the Mosaic art work and conservationists to salvage and re-instate the mosaic artwork where possible, carry out pool repairs and install new and improved lighting and handrails.
