- More options for residential parking in Waverley
More options for residential parking in Waverley
4 May 2022
Waverley Council’s residential parking scheme at the Hollywood Avenue Car Park, Bondi Junction, is making it easier for residents to access secure overnight parking.
Residents can apply for a monthly pass to park in the secure car park at a discounted rate of $144 per month between the hours of 5pm and 9am.
The initiative has also helped free-up street parking in surrounding streets, Waverley Mayor, Paula Masselos said.
"On-street parking is in high demand across our local government area due to the sheer number of people who live, work and visit our area,” Mayor Masselos said.
“Most residents do not have private off-street parking, so Council decided to offer the Hollywood Avenue Car Park for overnight use for residents.
“We recognise that walking and cycling is the most sustainable forms of transport, but we also appreciate that people do still own cars.”
Our fairer system of parking in Waverley also includes:
- first residential parking permits are free
- parking meters are switched off in the commercial areas of Bondi Junction after 6pm each night to encourage evening trading and increase access to parking in surrounding residential streets
- Parking meters are switched off in Queen Elizabeth Drive and Park Drive North/Park Drive South, Bondi Beach after 7pm year-round
- Parking meters are switched off in Campbell Parade, Bondi Beach, after 7pm from May-October), excluding meters in Residential Parking Scheme zones
- We have almost 30 free 15-minute ‘drop-in’ zones in key locations in Bondi Beach (Hall Street, Curlewis Street and Campbell Parade), Bondi Junction (Oxford Street, Spring Street and Bronte Road) and Charing Cross (Bronte Road) to make it easy for people to run quick errands
- We also have pick-up and drop-off [PUDO bays] in key locations and these bays can be used by all motorists including taxis and rideshare services
