Honour guard for the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

Waverley Council is hosting an honour guard today of lifeguards, lifesavers and police at Bondi Beach in memory of the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on this national day of mourning, Thursday 22 September.

Please meet at around 10.40am at the Bondi Pavilion forecourt, Queen Elizabeth Drive, Bondi Beach.

There will a minutes' silence at 11am, followed by a guard of honour with lifeguards, lifesavers and police.

The event will go ahead in wet weather and the community is invited to attend.

Speaking is the Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, Bondi Surf Bathers Life Saving Club president, Brent Jackson and North Bondi Surf Club president, Andrew Christopher.

Our speakers will share their insights about the Queen's visit to Bondi on 6 February 1954 for the Royal Command Surf Carnival. An honour guard was held on that day to welcome the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip.
