Have Your Say about our clifftop walkway

30 September 2021

Waverley Council is inviting the community to provide feedback on its development application (DA) to upgrade the Clifftop Walkway at Eastern Reserve, Dover Heights and Diamond Bay Reserve, Diamond Bay.

Among the works proposed in the DA is the creation of four new viewing platforms and the relocation of the existing Diamond Bay viewing platform to capture coastline views in a safer location.

The DA also proposes:

  • Replacement of boardwalk along existing line, with the exception of Diamond Bay, where a section of boardwalk will be shifted landward in the interest of safety
  • Replacing existing boardwalk at Diamond Bay Reserve and extension of Eastern Reserve boardwalk with low boardwalks at either end over uneven surfaces to prevent erosion and trip hazards
  • Replacing existing picket fencing with bollards and seating at Lancaster Rd, Bulga Rd, Eastern Ave and Oceanview Ave to improve visibility and access
  • Replacing existing picket fencing at George St entry with Waverley Council Coastal fence with locked gate for remnant vegetation maintenance access (signage directing pedestrians to nearby Bulga Rd/Lancaster Rd entries)
  • Replacing deteriorating sections of existing fencing with Waverley Council Coastal fence to improve safety
  • Protecting and expanding low-level healthy existing indigenous vegetation
  • Bins at entry points to reduce litter.

This upgrade project is funded by the NSW Government through the Public Spaces Legacy Program. You can read the most recent Council Report here to learn more about our proposal.

Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said the upgrade project will further enhance the natural beauty of the area and increase visitor experience and safety.

“This section of Waverley’s coastline is known for its dramatic scenery and we hope that people will continue to use the area safely, adhere to all regulations signposted and follow the Public Health Orders,” Mayor Masselos said.

Project information is available at haveyoursay.waverley.nsw.gov.au. The DA is also available to view on our DA tracker quoting DA-378/2021. Submissions close Tuesday 19 October, 2021.

To have your say, please, provide a written submission, including the DA number DA-378/2021 either:
