- Be inspired at the 2022 Bondi Innovation Forum
Be inspired at the 2022 Bondi Innovation Forum
5 May 2022
Australia’s top entrepreneurs return to Sydney on Thursday 26 May for the 2022 Bondi Innovation Forum presented by Waverley Council in partnership with Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce and Bondi Innovation.
Bondi locals Dany Milham (Milkrun) and Claire Morris (Prezzee) are among this year’s speakers at the free virtual live event being broadcast online from Bondi Icebergs from 10am to 1pm.
This year, the Bondi Innovation Forum celebrates the theme of “the future of possibility” and the bold, brave and inspiring journeys our entrepreneurs have faced on the road to success.
Mayor of Waverley, Paula Masselos, said as international borders open, Sydney will become an even greater destination for knowledge-based businesses.
“As we move further into the twenty-first century, knowledge and innovation sectors are important to nurture and advance,” Mayor Masselos said. "A personal passion, I am excited that Waverley Council has enshrined the fostering of these sectors within our plans for the coming 10 years.
“There is no doubt that Australia’s dedication to innovation has grown, and at the heart of that growth, are the steps that individuals take to create success, and the support they receive along the way, including from organisations such as Waverley Council and our Forum partners.
“Our forum is inclusive, it’s for everyone, regardless of the size of your business and the stage it is at.
“We want to impart stories, ideas, tools and insights that may inspire the way our Forum attendees run their own businesses.”
The half-day program includes 20 minutes conversations with our entrepreneurs, taking us through the highs and lows of achieving global success both their current business and previous ventures across a range of industries including:
- Dany Milham – Milkrun (Online Grocery Delivery)
- Alisdair Faulkner – Darwinium (Digital Risk Protection)
- Claire Morris – Prezzee (e-gift cards)
- Jo Burston - Inspiring Rare Birds (Mentoring & Recruitment)
- Danielle Owen Whitford – Pioneera (Mental Health AI)
- Soren Trampedach – Work Club Global (Premium Coworking Ecosystems)
- Justin Wasntage - Vloggi (Crowdsourced Video Content)
“What innovators in our area have demonstrated is that innovation extends beyond science, technology or research, encouraging how things can be done differently, and implementing new creative solutions to a range of current and future challenges,” Mayor Masselos said.
“Innovation is at the heart of much of what we do at Council and we are implementing several projects to position Waverley as an innovation hub of the future including our heritage transformation of the Boot Factory building at Bondi Junction into a civic innovation hub.”
Emmanuel Constantinou, President, Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce, said the forum presents a rare opportunity to hear from a range of industry leaders all in the one place.
“The Bondi & Districts Chamber of Commerce is an avid supporter of innovative businesses and helping businesses thrive in this period of recovery following the pandemic ” Mr Constantinou said.
“It believes the Innovation forum helps our business community to stand at the forefront of their industry and puts Bondi on the map as a hub for forward-thinking businesses.”
Ross Dawson, founder, Bondi Innovation, said the forum is highly aligned with his organisation’s vision of helping the Bondi region develop into a globally-recognised centre for inspiring innovators and innovation.
“We believe deeply in the massive potential of this region to blossom into a truly world-class innovation centre, but the insights gained from the Forum can help anyone in business in Australia,” Mr Dawson said.
"Bondi Innovation Forum will share insights from leading entrepreneurs and support Bondi Innovation's drive to connect the local community so they can create exceptional ventures together.”
