- Applications open for Small Grants Program
Applications open for Small Grants Program
14 August 2020
If you have a great idea that would benefit the local community or environment but need some help to get your initiative off the ground, Waverley Council’s small grants program could be the answer. Throughout the year, Council offers multiple rounds of funding to support individuals and organisations with projects that benefit our LGA.
Small grants of up to $5,000 are available in three streams:
- Community and cultural grants: Individuals, community groups and services, sole traders and local businesses can apply with proposals that deliver identifiable social, cultural and recreational benefits to the Waverley community.
- Environmental grants: Schools, child care centres, incorporated community groups and local micro businesses can apply with proposals that contribute to a sustainable local community and environment.
- Creative streets grants: Individuals, community groups, precinct groups, schools and local businesses can apply with proposals that contribute to improving Waverley's streetscapes.
Approximately $100,000 is allocated to small grants each financial year to support community members in taking the lead on addressing issues and creating outcomes that are important to them.
In the last round of funding, Council supported a number of diverse projects including:
- Artists in Isolation: Publication compiling the work of 5-8 local artists working in isolation as a result of the COVID-19 shutdown
- Dunera Digital Project, Emanuel Synagogue: Online portal with a range of activities to connect members and content partners remotely
- Archive Improvement Project, Bondi Surf Lifesavers: Reorganise catalogue and digitise club records to improve access for historical research
- Bondi Badlands Historical Justice Podcast: Production of a six-episode true crime podcast about historical LGBT hate crimes
- Waverley Historical Society: Exhibition of early Bondi Beach and North Bondi Memories
- Our Big Kitchen: Upgrade of the kitchen’s cooktop to support the preparation and delivery of 2,000 meals per week by staff and volunteers
- Nefesh Synagogue: Contribution towards solar panels
- Clovelly Public School: Crayweed restoration project in the Bronte-Coogee aquatic reserve
Applications for small grants close on 1 September. To find out more and to apply, visit our small grants program page.
